Recycling Reward
A recycling program funded by the California Department of Conservation is offering participation schools to be eligible to receive 100% matching funds (up to $250 per school) for recycling beverage containers. To be eligible, schools must have a school-wide recycling program. For more information contact Linda Ceballos, City of San Bernardino Projects Manager at (909)384-5549, ext. 3424.
CREEC – Annual Environmental Art Exhibit
Categories include: Environmental Art, Recycle Art, or a Photo Essay. All artwork should be accompanied by a few sentences explaining the project. For more complete information and contest descriptions log onto www.creec.org/region10
Environmental EXPO
The 21st Annual Environmental EXPO, the largest environmental education and activity fair in California, is to be held on Saturday, April 21th, 2007 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at California State University, San Bernardino. For information see http://expo.csusb.edu.
Forestry Institute for Teachers (FIT)
The FIT is held in 3 locations in northern California, each for one-week during the summer of 2007. Teachers can work with professional forest managers and environmental education specialists to learn about forests, forestry, and forest management and develop an environmental education unit for their classrooms. Burning Issues - Fire Ecology and Wildfire Management Workshop
"Burning Issues" is an interactive computer game that introduces students to the complex and interesting issues of fire ecology and wildfire management practices. CD-rom is free to teachers attending a special "fire-focus" Project Learning Tree workshop. Workshop are scheduled to be arranged locally through NEST.
